So, I’ve been away for a while enjoying the Summer.

I’ve had a good time, my job is more stable, I’ve got a little more drive about me, and with luck and a fair wind, will be able to finish part of the story arc in the next few weeks.

I’m also working on rebuilding my old robot wars robots, and have dug out my “blog” which ran from 2000, and moved it to blogger. For details of that check out http://killer-carrot.blogspot.com/

racing away with the G-pen, and my new windsor and Newton Indian ink…

I’m not sure I like it, it doesn’t  blotch as much as the DELETER ink… but what the heck, it’s all about feel. Soundtrack today is R4 Infinite monkey cage.

Once we get through the current part of the story, I’m handing the writing over to Adam, I’m hoping Dom will join in again, and maybe do a bit of inking? Perhaps we need another target to work towards… maybe next years thought bubble?

Give me covering fire

Wow, I’m well ahead of myself this week. All done by Saturday Evening.

So as the shock troops spread out things are going to get a trifle tasty… Eric better get himself down to the cellar to sort out those other poor souls… but watch out for the other inmates.

Art stuff this week was the DELETER G pen, which has a reasonably flexible nib, and some Windsor and Newton Indian Ink… I’ve been trying to get hold of some since UK webcomics Thing… It’s ok,didn’t blotch once, though I’m not sure it has the tightness of the DELETER No 3. All drawn in a Daler sketch book, big black areas filled with a brush. Some of the ragged edges tidied with a RTRING isograph 0.3mm

Soundtrack: I believe in yesterday, an Audible audiobook from Tim Moore, about historical re-enactment.

I got the HELLBOY Masks and Monsters trade from the library today (I love my Library), and it’s a cracking romp, with Nazi’s AND Batman… what more could you want.

It’s my Birthday on Monday, I’ll be 44… time to reflect on all the stuff I do, and plot a path for the future.

I’ve been wondering how Dr Duvall here was going to retrieve his Scarecrow like syringe setup, and then the Autons returned in Dr Who… it made immediate sense, Duvall surely wouldn’t let it lie in “improving” just his subjects, but would surely augment himself too.

Art Stuff, still stomping away with Daler Bristol Board, and a Staedtler Pigment liner 0.5mm. The next few weeks are pages I drew a while back, so the style and tools change a little.

SMACK!!!!

it's clobberin' time

There’s an interview with Mike Mignola where he talks about just wanting to draw monsters, and the joy of Hellboy being that everyone is a monster. I’m hoping to steer Wychwolf a little more that way. It’s also about time we had a little action.

Art stuff: Staedtler pigment liners 0.7 and 0.5 when the 0.7 ran out, on Daler Bristol board.

Music: BBC Audio Batman Knightfall, a superb radio series that I first heard years ago when working on a farm. Also She’s got a new spell – Billy Bragg, saturday Sun- Nick Drake, and Cosmic Dancer – T-REX.

KICK-Ass

I just read Kick Ass, and have to say I haven’t been gripped by a comic story plot quite so well in years… It is horribly, horribly, brutally violent, and coprolallic in the extreme…BUT, but, it is completely engaging…. and it made me realise how very slow the pace of our current story is. Sure we’ve had a some evisceration, and tentacle lopping.. but not enough.

I’ve got the next couple of pages already stacked in ComicPress, and I guess we have got a bit of Zombie dog popping up, but following pages are now down for a redraw, with more action in the characters, and possibly some more violence.

I’m not sure if I want to see the film, I think it might be a little wince inducing.
