Full of germs today, spent a lot of time sneezing and feeling sorry for myself. Hoping that a good night of sleep will make me feel a little better.

Hmmmm… for some reason Photoshop elements doesn’t want to recognise my old canon Canoscan LIDE25 scanner.
This is part of the delights I have experienced upgrading to Lion. It has cost me a lot of time, frustration and cash, and has been an altogether un-maclike experience… still hopefully I am set for the next couple of years with a relatively future proof configuration.
It’s still all gentle stuff, Photoshop Elements10, which I prefer over the full blown photoshop, an old Wacom bamboo with an A6 drawing area, running on a 2.4GHz last generation mac mini.
I’m writing this a fair few days ahead of the due date, and am hoping to get a few pages into a buffer, to keep Adam on his toes.
Sketched during the Royal wedding, and inked with my trusty old Rotring 0.5 and 0.2 isographs.
I’ve installed photoshop elements on my powerbook now, as I prefer it to CS3, which is quite a discovery… the general view is that CS3 is better, but I just found it needlessly complex for the workflow I’ve got in place. I guess I could re-learn, but there seems little point.
It makes me wonder what other premium items would be worse… I’ve always fancied a bigger tablet or even a Wacom Cintiq, but it might be I’m more suited to the titchy bamboo… it’s certainly portable.
So I’ve been ‘borrowing’ script ideas and words from ‘Aliens’ for a while now, and repurposing them.
I’m planning to stop soon, but some things are too deeply ingrained.
I’m back on a mac now, which makes life so much easier using photoshop. I was tempted to buy a bigger tablet oo, but at the minute am happier inking with real ink.
Art stuff , again this week, windsor and newton a DELETER G pen, and a Daler sketch pan.
Soundtrack:The Imperial March from Star wars, Nick Cave and the bad seeds – Hiding all away, The white stripes- St James’ infirmary.
I’m looking at the tools to get things onto a kindle, and figure it might be a chortle to plan that as as route for the next story arc of wychwolf. Adam is unsure if the story should still be wychwolf, when it moves on to the next part, but I have the domains, and it’s linked.
I’ve been waiting to get the airship into the story for an age, but we’re finally here.
I was going to use some fancy filters for the airship, but to be honest it looked better without.
Art Stuff: drawn with a 0.5mm rotring pencil, inked with DELETER no3 manga ink and a dip pen straight into my sketch book which worked much better than anticipated… the sketch pad has rather open fibres, and tends to bleed.
Soundtrack: Tweet me Harder, Dave Malki and Kris Straub.
A new start, a new job… working on the pc is proving more tricky than anticipated. Photoshop is doing some weird trapping around outlines. I’m not sure how to get past it. .. though my heart says buy a mac.
So blood everywhere, a severely damaged team, and a mad doctor on the loose.
Things are warming up.
Art stuff, sketched in Daler sketch book with 0.5mm pencil,, scanned in using my canonscan lide 25 scanner, then inked and coloured in photoshop elements.
I think I may try to get back to inking on paper, whilst I work out issues with PS.
Soundtrack: Minus by Beck, Fall away by The fray and Conqueeeessst by the White Stripes.

Words, words words…
A brief respite from the fun and frolics down in the crypt, with all those werewolf things, and psychotropic drugs. Our man Eric is the “star in a reasonably priced car” for the next few weeks, as he investigates the airman, so cruelly mauled. The first frame of this strip is a photo from Ashdown Forest, on the edge of an MOD training ground. It’s one of the things that sparked the ideas for he story in the first place.
Art Stuff: Staedtler 0.3 and 0.7mm pigment pens on DELETER Manga paper.
Soundtrack: The bubbling mud sound of appalling DAB, leading to irritation and silence, broken only by the munching of apples, and the buzz of countryside insects.
