I have the day off tomorrow, and depending on the weather may actually spend a little time finishing off part 1 of the story.
I certainly have to get next Monday’s strip finished soon, as next weekend we have 24HCD to endure, and defeat.

The colour pic for this panel was probably more pleasing than the sepia. I’ve found a good palette of colours that will work when they are changed to sepia tones, back they are really rather growing on me.
Art stuff, yet again, simple pencil in sketchbook, inked with whatever pens were to hand , in this case a mix of Rotring isographs, and Faber Castell PITT artist pens. Scanned B/W, lines cleaned up a little, coloured and filtered in photoshop elements 4 on mac mini, using wacom bamboo.
Soundtrack for this week was the Philosophy Bites podcast by Nick Bostrom on the Simulation Argument. Not very groovy, but there you go.
I think induction begins for my online Computer Science degree tomorrow, so perhaps I’ll be even more busy.
So, I’ve been away for a while enjoying the Summer.
I’ve had a good time, my job is more stable, I’ve got a little more drive about me, and with luck and a fair wind, will be able to finish part of the story arc in the next few weeks.
I’m also working on rebuilding my old robot wars robots, and have dug out my “blog” which ran from 2000, and moved it to blogger. For details of that check out http://killer-carrot.blogspot.com/
I’ve also had a stab at using my ipad for drawing, with more or less success, and the results can be found at www.strangebiros.co.uk
So we meet again…
I’ve tried quite hard to squeeze as much corny dialogue into wychwolf as is possible. I think it comes from a childhood imbibing the wonders of Basil Rathbone’s Sherlock Holmes.
This week I decided NOT to run in sepia.. I usually colour everything then remove the colour to get a range of grey tones, then enhance, using a couple of reduce blue, increase red filters. But this week I wanted the brain to be nice and pink, and whilst that would have been a nice highlight, I thought the colour was actually ok.. just for completeness I’ll sepia it up and add it as a separate post.
I bought the box set of “Fringe” the other day to watch whilst I’m down the gym. I was quite surprised to see them waffling on about retrieving the images from the eyes of the dead, but then again, I think I pinched the idea from Sandman. I’d just got over that, when I saw an episode where people on a bus are trapped in a silicon matrix, “like mosquitos caught in amber” which was a line I’d written for todays strip… I was amazed that they were using such corny dialogue.
Anyway, perhaps I’ll stumble across other similarities, seeing as the strip and the show are both taking a similar, “pile em high” approach to aracana nonsense.
Strip was drawn with rotring mechanical pencil, inked with Rotring 0.5mm Isograph, and then fiddled with in photoshop elements 4 on the mac. I Googled for a “ripple” filter to use around the bullets, found one for CS3, tried it, but in the end went back to Elements.
Dog Soldiers was on last night.. I missed it, but the term has been in my mind throughout the story.. WHY has Duvall been making these Dog Soldiers. Well for a couple of reasons.. or three reasons.
1. He’s barking mad…
2.. well you’ll have to wait and see.
Lots of DELETER no3 black ink in todays pic, in fact a lot of it all over my hands. I looked at a “how to make your own cintiq” site last week… this week I find myself far too busy to even consider starting another project I might not finish. Looks like my day job has an extension till March 2012, so I have a job for another year. I guess that makes me one of a very lucky few.
Exposition…
So Eric revives Gerald, and catches up on what has been found in Duvall’s lair, but what does it all mean?
Mad Jack Fuller was a real person, go on Google him, he built some weird stuff round the Sussex coast, including a rather disconcerting Pyramid tomb. He funded the Fullerian chair at the Royal Society a position which helped Michael Faraday on his way. Fuller was one of the first parts of the story when it was originally being written, I’m glad he’s stayed the course.
Art stuff is all the same old stuff, Windsor and Newton ink using a dip G pen. New year will bring a few changes as I hope to get the story onto Kindle, and ipod, and maybe even venture into print like my dear friend Steve.
Happy New Year.
If you’ve been involved in an accident at work, that wasn’t your fault, get over it. This is the second page for the UK Webcomix thing Compendium.

We’ll be on table 10, come by, and say hello.

So I’m still testing out the functions of ComicPress, and checking how various things render.
This page was created for the “Dinosaur” themed compendium for the UK Webcomix things, on the 27th March.
