Page 3 brings to an end the prologue, we have assembled our three main protagonists, and they must now sally forth to adventure in the beautiful heart of Sussex. In the novelisation over on http://www.wychwolf.co.uk Adam has a slightly different take on the call to arms, and it seems all of the characters are being summoned by “control”, or some other remote figure.
I wanted to highlight the fact that Gerald is in charge of the team, and try and indicate that it’s he who then gathers them. I know I haven’t got the flow right, as each of the first three pages feel disconnected, but I figure the whole of this is very much a learning by doing process. I can always come back and tweak, but don’t think I will.
This page was drawn with an Edding pigment fine liner, on DELETER Manga paper, but to be honest most of the work was done in photoshop. So 3 different pens for the first three pages…
It’s strange coming back to the earlier inks to try and remember what I used to create them, I’m going to try and make some notes on the reverse of future sketches, so I can find which combinations work best. I was rather taken with the lines that manga studio makes possible, but until I can use it properly I need to stick to pen an paper.
